Fractured Horizon Ep 17- The start of Volume 3

Episode 17 is available and here is the blurb:

This is the start of Volume 3. Kay returns to the Adams and sees that they are reaching the edge of desperation. She finally meets the Snakes, but not under the best circumstances!

The episodes that start Volume 3 show the quiet maneuvering before the strong press to the end of the book. After the next couple episodes the action will begin and not relent until the end.

My trusty and invaluable pre-release reviewer, who does the final quality and sanity check, had an interesting observation about this episode:

"There was one part I liked when Kay was discussing the future with Talos and he says "we [the Adams] cause things to happen." That reminds me of what one Bush administration official once said:

The aide said that guys like me [Reporters] were ''in what we call the reality-based community,'' which he defined as people who ''believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.'' I nodded and murmured something about enlightenment principles and empiricism. He cut me off. ''That's not the way the world really works anymore,'' he continued. ''We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality -- judiciously, as you will -- we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.'' --- http://www.cs.umass.edu/~immerman/play/opinion05/WithoutADoubt.html

In other news, during the week of Thanksgiving I will have limited Internet access but will try to find a haven where I can upload the next episode (*revision note: There will be no episode released the week of Thanksgiving). I will be unavailable on Twitter and Facebook. I wish you all the best.

Fractured Horizon Episode 16 now available

It has been a fun week. I was interviewed for The World in 3D, and am hopeful that the interview will be featured soon. It is currently in editing.

Episode 16 is now available. This episode marks the end of Volume 2: Onna City. Here's the blurb for this episode:

As they flee Royal troops the escapees get to know each other, leading Ward to a revelation. The Royals' troops attack them and not everyone gets away.

I wanted to respond to a few questions that came up from previous episodes.

Q: In the intro to episode 15, you say that the Royals are trying to end Adam Domination. I thought the Royals were ruling not the Adams. Who is actually dominating?
A: You're right, the Royals do rule, however the Adams dominate their own realm, which includes the Adam Stronghold and Jackal City, and they believe that they have a claim to everything else. Orlando wants to take back their holdings and deny that claim once and for all.

Q:I am a bit confused, I thought the guys in the flash backs went back in time when the ants attacked for a different reason.
A: (Spoiler until Ep 14) Kay deals with groups from two different future times. First, there is the immediate future of the Royals and Adams that produced the brothers by sending their pattern back for growth. Information can be sent without affecting the rift. Second, there is the distant future of David and Cabel. They go through to seal the rift shut from Ant interference. They know nothing of the brothers or the Royals.

I've just posted a new EXTRA that explains the rift and gives another glimpse at the distant future:
Now Available! Riven Space- When the rift is discovered, it sets in motion plans for David and Cabel's defensive trip through time. See events leading up to their call to action.

Q: I really liked the robotic animals and their eyes flashing during the dance. That was awesome imagery! The ball sequence is pretty awesome. Those animals are super cool.
A: I know this isn't a question. I just wanted to include it.

Thanks for writing to me. Send me more questions and comments.

Enjoy the new episode. See if you can figure out what Ward is thinking just before the Adams appear.

More than half-way

As I make Episode 15 available for download, I realize that the book is now more than half-way complete!

Here's the blurb for Ep 15:
Rejecting a neatly planned and sanctioned dungeon escape, Kay steals the Royals' secret weapon. Her new escape plan isn't tidy at all.

The next episode will mark the end of Volume 2: Onna City. Please consider this a good time to let me know what you are thinking. Leave me a comment here or rate me on Podiobooks or iTunes. And it is worth making a special acknowlegement of chi-town list... for being the first to give an iTunes review for Fractured Horizon. (I don't know if you read my blog, but thank you.)
